Kamikaze Gets into Stride

Revamp vs Kamikaze (League)

19 Feb 2012

Punggol Secondary @ 5pm

With the title race looking like a foregone conclusion due to the inability of the other teams to grab points off Height Rovers, Kamikaze continued on doing their own task of grabbing the 3 points in each of their remaining matches. They definitely did it against Revamp but not before giving themselves and their manager a little scare. They scored within the first 10 mins with Seshan pulling down a looped ball from Vijay before putting it past the keeper with no fuss. Seshan then doubled his and the team's score when he put away a penalty. But old habits once again crept in, as Kamikaze's inability to hold a lead showed. Passes went astray, play was rushed and once again they found themselves level at the half-time.

The gaffer who was not at all pleased with the way they capitulated in the first half would have been forgiven for unleashing the hair-dryer treatment. But he chose to back his players and urged them on to go on to play the football that they were capable of. The result was that Kamikaze ended the test fairly well scoring 4 in the second period thanks to a brace from Seshan who ended up with 4 for the match and good striker's goal by Vishnu and Vijay after excellent play from Safar.

The team showed that they were capable of much better play if they put their minds to it. With Doctor reinforcing the midfield alongside Gerard and Hari, Kamikaze looks a really formidable team to come up against, as long as they get over their mental fraility. Though the league looks over, miracles can happen as long as there is a mathematical chance. For now, however, Kamikaze will only look to take one step at a time.

KAMIKAZE!!!

Kamikaze Tops Group

Golden Star FC vs Kamikaze (FA Cup)

12 Feb 2012

Canberra Secondary @ 5pm

Kamikaze entered this match knowing that they could relax as a solitary point will ensure that they finish the group as top. But no one in the team, was prepared to settle for anything less than a point against their tough opponents. Golden Star, a Myanmarese team, stayed through to form as they put in many enthusiastic and sometimes over the top tackles. With the referee not staying firm, KKZ knew the only way to fight fire was with fire. Led by their inspirational captain USPO and midfield stalwart Hari, the team fought for every single ball and stayed toe-to-toe with their opponents. Despite creating a host of chances, they were unable to convert due to good keeping and some bad offside decisions. Nevertheless, the team kept trying and even during the odd times where Golden Star launched an attack, the KKZ defence spearheaded by Prem and Nesh stayed firm to repel the attacks. In the end, as the match was headed to a draw, veteran forward Victor King latched onto a long ball from Prem and sidefooted it into the net to give KKZ a deserved 1-0 win and top spot in the group. The team will now face familiar foes S.S in the round of 16. With a score to settle there, KKZ will be definitely keeping their heads cool and minds set on the quarter-final place.
KAMIKAZE!!!

Final Score: Golden Star 0 - 1 KKZ
Squad: Ismail Khan, Prem, Nesh, Manjan, Spaceship, Hari, USPO, Haravin, Vijay, Mohawk, Yasin, Vishnu, Victor, Doctor, Seelan

Goals: Victor
Assists: Prem

Kamikaze Finally Wins

Chai Chee CSC vs Kamikaze (League)

5 Feb 2012

St Wilfrid @ 1pm

Kamikaze looked to end the barren run of 3 league draws against Chai Chee CSC, a team that had earlier stolen a point away from them in the first game of the season. Kamikaze had drawn 4 times already during this season, a worrying statistic that caused some concern for Team Manager Seelan. Upon close introspection, the manager identified the team's inability to dictate play as one of the key reasons for not closing off games. Hence, special tactics were drawn out for this game to ensure play began from the backline with proper possession and a calm unrushed manner in which attacks were created. At first, it looked like the tactics were gonna backfire with Chai Chee parking the bus infront of goal, but the calm manner in which KKZ approached the game justified the tactical changes as they ran out 4-0 winners thanks to a well-taken brace from young striker Vishnu in between goals from a trademark Gerard penalty and brilliant Pratheep volley at the end. With the long overdue win, KKZ looks set to turn the momentum on to put pressure on the league leaders.

Squad: Ismail Khan, Maaran, Nesh, Pratheep, Spaceship, USPO, Gerard, Victor, ELi, Doctor, Yasin, Vishnu, Mohawk, Safar, Prem

Scorers: Gerard, Vishnu (2), Pratheep

Express Updating Yet Again

Express Updating. Sorry for the trouble. But the editor is back, and this time he is back for good.. (till he goes missing again)

Kamikaze vs Revamp (League)

6 Nov 2011
Bowen Secondary School @ 5pm

A routine match for the Kamikaze warriors saw them pick up all 3 points in class by banging 7 goals past Revamp. Revamp showed great spunk and character by scoring 2, but Kamikaze proved too strong for this young team.

Final Score: KKZ 7 - 2 Revamp

Goals: Vicky Havey-Drogba, El Fazail Pistolero, Vishnu Giri Torres (2), Vijay Hernandez, El Fazail Pistolero, Millionaire Premnathan

Kamikaze vs Height Rovers (League)

13 Nov 2011
Mayflower Secondary @3pm

In the clash of the two titans of the Eastern Division, the spoils were shared by the team as the edgy encounter ended 1-1. Height rovers struck first blood as they took advantage of a defensive lapse to score the opener, but Kamikaze's never say die attitude paid dividends as they equalised thanks to Hevy and salvaged a point against the league leaders.

Final Score: KKZ 1 - 1 Height Rovers
Goals: Hevy

S.S vs Kamikaze (League)

18 Dec 2011
St Wilfrid @ 1pm

After a break of more than a month, the rustiness in Kamikaze was exposed as they found themselves down by 2 goals in the first half. But this is a team that never knows when it is beaten, and Kamikaze fought valiantly to comeback to salvage yet another draw. 2-2 was how it ended thanks to goals from Pratheep and Safar. Safar's goal was a nominee for goal of the season, as he left 4 defenders for dead inside the box before finishing exquisitely.

Final Score: S.S 2 - 2 KKZ
Goals: Pratheep, Safar

Uni Raiders vs Kamikaze (FA Cup)

8 Jan 2012
First Toa Payoh Sec @ 5pm

Their league troubles continued to haunt them in the first round of the FA Cup as Kamikaze found themselves facing a resilient Universal Raiders team. Midway through the second half Kamikaze were staring at an embarassing defeat as they were down 3-1, but the famed Kamikaze spirit showed its venomous head once again, as Universal Raiders found themselves bitten when they least expected it. Late goals from Seshan, Yasin sandwiched a Safar brace as Kamikaze bounced back to win 4-3. The winless streak was finally snapped as the warriors started the year on a winning note.

Final Score: Uni Raiders 3 - 4 KKZ
Goals: Safar (2), Seshan, Yasin

Kamikaze vs Raffles Rangers (FA Cup)

15 Jan 2012

Bishan Park Secondary @ 3pm

Kamikaze headed into this game with the knowledge that a win in this game will ensure their progress to the next round. That knowledge spurred them to play exciting and enterprising football which reaped excellent results as they ran out deserved 3-0 winners. Despite not having a first-choice keeper, stand in keeper Ismail Khan was largely untested as the KKZ midfield ran rings around their counterparts. A Seshan brace and a good goal from Pratheep saw the team cruise to the next round rather comfortably.

Final Score: KKZ 3 - 0 Raffles Rangers
Goals: Seshan (2), Pratheep

Kamikaze vs That Team (League)

29 Jan 2012
East Spring Secondary @ 5pm

In what was to be a potential title-deciding clash, Kamikaze came out all guns ablazing to take a well-deserved 2-0 lead against a shell-shocked That Team. However, slack defending and disastrous goalkeeping by stand-in keeper saw the team drop into chaos and concede 4 quick goals in a devastating 15 min spell. Just when it looked like it was going to be black night for the team in black, Seshan gave them a lifeline with a well-taken goal. And Kamikaze showed once again why they are the king of comebacks with Safar scoring in the death. But in all honesty, this is a game the team must have won and they only have themselves to blame. With that result, the fate of the league is now out of their hands, and all they can do is to win every single game and hope for the best.

Final Score: KKZ 4 - 4 That Team

Goals: Seshan (2), Yasin, Safar

So sorry for the slipshod manner in which this express update was done, but the editor had gone awol for exactly 3 months now. So the digging up of previous match info was difficult if not impossible. Hence, I have updated to the best of my ability. Have a good read, and contact me if there are any discrepancies. Thank you!!

We might seem down, We might seem out. We might be thought to be gone forever. But just when you least expect it, we rise again like the Rising Sun. We are the Divine Wind.
